The helmet of mixed reality Windows Acer AH101 marks a new step in virtual immersion in our real environment. Combining two cameras in front to a helmet of virtual reality, more traditional headphones, this mixed reality is free of any installation of external sensors for mobile use and plug-and-play !
A mixed reality in everyday life

Microsoft innovates by introducing in the landscape of high-tech a new technology, mixed reality Windows. Only compatible with Windows 10 Creator Update, this mixed reality involves the integration of the reality in a virtual environment. To oversimplify, this allows you to scan the room to interact virtually with (add furniture, change the color of the walls...). This is mixed reality !

Within the headphones Acer AH101, this is made possible by the introduction of two cameras placed at the front of the helmet. The helmet then becomes a device in the same way as a keyboard or a mouse, operating a software (here, the Creator Update) !

The connection is extremely simple, as a USB 3.0 port is enough, coupled to a HDMI 1.4 or 2.0. And that's all ! The supplied cable is 4 meters, which allows a freedom to move around your computer if necessary.

An audio input jack (3.5 mm) is also available and allows for the use of Cortana.

No external sensors required !

In addition to the mixed reality, the helmet AH101 may also act as a virtual reality helmet classic and it has the means to ! We find a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels (1440 x 1440 per eye), as well as a field-of-view (FOV) of 95°. Regarding the refresh rate of the image, it will be 60 Hz with HDMI 1.4 and 90 Hz with HDMI 2.0.

The big advantage of this helmet compared to the helmets VR-traditional is the lack of external sensors to be positioned in the room. Gain freedom with an installation done in just a few seconds !

An effort is also made on the comfort with a measured weight (only 350 grams), as well as the ergonomics with a helmet that is adjustable via a knob located at the rear. Finally, the visor lifts to not to lose his footing in reality. Switch from a virtual environment to real in a fraction of a second !

Two controllers wireless are included with the helmet of mixed reality Windows Acer AH101. Powered by batteries (not included), no sensor is required since they are recognized in the space via a system of follow-up the LED located above and cameras on the front of the helmet.

You will find a Menu key in addition to a Windows key as well as two triggers and a joystick. No buttons to speak of, but a trackpad that comes with the substitute for use more intuitive and instinctive.
